Sedation Dentistry

Does the thought of visiting the dentist make you nervous? Do you avoid the care you need due to phobia? Sedation dentistry at our Warsaw, IN, practice can help you and your family members get the care you need, without the anxiety. Our team provides sedation dentistry so you can achieve a deep state of relaxation in the dentist's chair.

Helping You Rest Easy during Treatment

Eliminate Anxiety

Our conscious sedation methods allow you to achieve a calm state of near-sleep. By easing feelings of fear or anxiety during dental treatment, sedation dentistry can help you relax and even enjoy your appointment.

Experience Efficient Treatment

Our dentists, Dr. William B. Stofer and Dr. Brock Spangle, know that treating a tense patient is far more difficult than treating a calm one. Sedation can help your dentist deliver more efficient treatment so that you spend less time in the treatment chair. In some cases, patients can receive years' worth of restorative work in just one visit.

Improve Your Physical Comfort

If you suffer from arthritis or another condition that makes sitting for long periods difficult, sedation can help you experience peace of mind in addition to improved physical comfort under our care.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Also known as "sleep dentistry," sedation dentistry is the practice of introducing medication, anti-anxiety, or sedative drugs during dental care to induce comfort and a state of complete relaxation. We offer three types of conscious sedation, which allow you to remain responsive but relaxed throughout your procedure. Sedation can range from mild to deep depending on the procedure and your level of comfort.

Looking for a Sedation Dentist? Here's Why You Should Consider Us

We Care About Pediatric Patients

We are sensitive to the fact that dental visits have a reputation for inspiring an even greater amount of anxiety in our younger patients. Our specialists and team have extensive experience in pediatric sedation. Not only can our younger patients fully relax during treatments, but we are also able to promote a positive association with trips to the dentist, which is an important healthy habit to establish early on in life.

Long-Standing Practice

Dental Solutions was founded in 2000. Over the past two decades, we have refined our sedation techniques to deliver the most effective, comfortable dentistry possible. We offer a multitude of sedation dentistry services that are typically not offered by other dentists in Warsaw and throughout Indiana.

We Focus on Comfort

We understand that dental appointments are not something that everyone looks forward to. Our objective is to provide a comfortable experience for every patient who visits our practice. Our Warsaw, IN, dental office is comfortable and furnished with couches, television, and a coffee bar. There is also room for children to play so that they can keep busy while they wait for their appointments.

Is Sedation Dentistry Covered By Insurance?

The answer depends on the dental procedure that you need.
Your plan may pay for some of the costs of sedation dentistry if deemed medically necessary, such as for oral surgery.

Typically though, sedation is rarely covered, because it is considered optional. You do have another choice, however. We accept in-house and CareCredit® financing to make treatment possible for our patients.

Do You Suffer From Dental Anxiety? Your Oral & Overall Health Could Be at Risk

In the United States, about 36% of people have dental anxiety.

Another 12% suffer from extreme dental fear. You're not alone if you have a phobia surrounding the dentist.

A phobia becomes problematic when it deters you from pursuing appropriate care when it is needed. Aching and swelling, for example, indicative of an infected tooth, may be ignored until root canal therapy cannot salvage the tooth and it needs to be extracted. The result is more costly treatment, more invasive procedures, and increased overall health problems.

Sedation Dentistry Can Make Results Like These Possible

Types of Sedation Offered at Our Practice

During a consultation, your dentist can determine whether you are a suitable candidate for sedation and which method best meets your needs. By providing different levels of sedation, we are able to customize treatment to each patient's unique level of anxiety. We offer three types:
IV drip

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

IV sedation is administered intravenously and closely monitored throughout treatment. This method is typically reserved for those undergoing oral surgery or lengthy dental procedures. Because sedatives are administered directly into the bloodstream, intravenous sedation has a rapid onset and causes extreme relaxation. Under IV sedation, you will remain responsive but will have very little memory of the experience. For this reason, IV sedation is also referred to as conscious sedation.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is another type of conscious sedation offered at our dental practice. Under this sedation dentistry technique, sedative drugs are taken at a predetermined time before your appointment. Depending on your needs, you may be given anti-anxiety medications or sedative medications that induce a deep state of relaxation during your procedure. Oral sedation can be combined with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to deepen the relaxing effects.

Nitrous Oxide

We also offer nitrous oxide, a mild sedative that is inhaled and wears off quickly. Nitrous oxide, which is also known as laughing gas, is inhaled through a mask while you sit in the dentist's chair. One of the benefits of nitrous oxide is its rapid onset and dissipation. Because the effects wear off within minutes, visitors receiving nitrous oxide do not need to plan a ride or ask a friend or loved one to accompany them. Nitrous oxide can be combined with IV or oral conscious medication to achieve optimal relaxation.

Are You a Candidate for Sedation?

Sedation dentistry might be a good option for patients:

Undergoing Complex Treatment

Sedation dentistry may be appropriate for a range of procedures, from dental implants to root canal therapy. We offer comprehensive dentistry and our patients can choose oral sedation, IV sedation, or laughing gas for a multitude of procedures.

With Physical Discomfort

Dental sedation offers increased comfort for those suffering from neck or back problems, or conditions like arthritis, that are exacerbated by the examination setting.

Who Have a Sensitive Gag Reflex

An increased sensitivity to gagging can complicate your care and extend the length of your visit. Sedation dentistry can help those with sensitive gag reflexes undergo treatment more quickly and comfortably.
